أعرب الإتحاد الأسترالي للمجالس الإسلامية (AFIC) عن مخاوفه بشأن إقالة إد هوسيك من الحكومة الفيدرالية، مشيراً إلى أن موقفه المبدئي حول الأوضاع الإنسانية في غزة قد يكون له دور في هذا القرار. يُعتبر هوسيك من الأصوات البارزة في السياسة الأسترالية، وكان وجوده في الحكومة مصدر فخر للكثيرين في المجتمع الإسلامي.
وتأتي إقالة هوسيك، التي لم تُوضّح أسبابها، لتعزز الإنطباع بأن من يتحدثون عن القضايا الإنسانية، وبالأخص المتعلقة بالأزمة في غزة، قد يواجهون عواقب على مسيرتهم السياسية. وفي هذا السياق، صرح رئيس AFIC الدكتور راتب جنيد، قائلاً:
“إذا تم تهميش السيد هوسيك بسبب تعليقاته حول غزة، فسيكون ذلك تطوراً مخيباً للآمال، رغم أنه ليس مفاجئاً نظراً لما شهدناه من إسكات للأصوات السياسية المتعلقة بهذه القضية في الفترة الماضية.”
ودعا الدكتور جنيد رئيس الوزراء أنطوني ألبانيزي إلى تقديم توضيحات حول هذا القرار، محذراً من أن غياب الشفافية سيؤدي إلى ردود فعل سلبية من المجتمع الإسلامي ومن جميع المعنيين بالعدالة. كما أبدى المجتمع الإسلامي الأسترالي قلقه المتزايد إزاء عدم إتخاذ القادة السياسيين مواقف واضحة ضد الفظائع في غزة.
وأكد AFIC على أهمية التمثيل السياسي الذي يعكس الواقع المعيشي لجميع الأستراليين، مشدداً على أن الصمت في أوقات الأزمات الإنسانية لا ينبغي أن يُكافأ، وأن النزاهة يجب أن تبقى محمية.
AFIC Expresses Concern Over Ed Husic’s Removal from Cabinet
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) expresses its concern at the recent removal of Ed Husic from the Federal Cabinet, particularly in light of suggestions that his principled stance on the situation in Gaza may have contributed to the decision.
Mr Husic has been one of the most senior Muslim voices in Australian politics and his presence in Cabinet was a point of pride for many in the Australian Muslim community. His removal, without clear explanation, risks reinforcing the growing perception that those who speak out on matters of conscience, particularly regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, do so at the expense of their political careers.
AFIC President Dr Rateb Jneid said:
“If Mr Husic was sidelined because of his public comments on Gaza, it would be a very disappointing development, though sadly, not surprising given the silencing of political voices on this issue over the past 18 months. The Prime Minister has a responsibility to provide clarity. In the absence of that, this decision will be received poorly by the Muslim community and others concerned with justice and accountability.”
The Australian Muslim community has watched with growing frustration the failure of political leaders to take a principled stand against the unfolding atrocities in Gaza. Any suggestion that a Cabinet Minister has been penalised for voicing even moderate concern sends a troubling message about the limits of moral conscience in public life.
AFIC reaffirms the importance of political representation that reflects the lived realities and deeply held concerns of all Australians. In times of moral crisis, silence should not be rewarded and integrity must not be punished.
