شهد هذا الأسبوع خروج أكثر من مائتين وخمسين ألف شخص إلى الشوارع في مختلف المدن الأسترالية، من ملبورن وسيدني إلى بريزبن وأديلايد وبيرث وكانبيرا وغيرها، في واحدة من أكبر المظاهرات المنسَّقة في تاريخ البلاد. اجتمع الأستراليون، على اختلاف خلفياتهم وأعمارهم وشرائحهم الاجتماعية، ليطالبوا بالعدالة لشعب غزّة وإنهاء الإبادة الجماعية التي تُرتَكب أمام أعين العالم.
إنّ الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا يقف في تضامنٍ كامل مع هذه التعبئة الشعبية الواسعة، ويوجّه أقوى نداءاته إلى الحكومة الأسترالية: إنّ زمن البيانات الرمزية والتصريحات العابرة قد ولّى، وحان وقت الفعل والقرارات الحاسمة.
إنّ ما نشهده في غزّة يُعَدُّ، بلا مبالغة، من أعظم الفظائع منذ الحرب العالمية الثانية: إبادة جماعية بطيئة وممنهجة ووحشية. من المرجّح أنّ عدد الشهداء تجاوز مائة ألف إنسان، معظمهم من النساء والأطفال. أحياءٌ كاملة دُمِّرت وسُوّيت بالأرض. مجاعةٌ وتهجيرٌ قسري يُستَخدمان كسلاح حرب. ومع ذلك، ما زالت حكومتنا عاجزة عن اتخاذ الموقف الأخلاقي والشجاعة السياسية التي يفرضها هذا الظرف التاريخي.
وقال رئيس الاتحاد الدكتور راتب جنيد:
“لقد أثبت الشعب الأسترالي هذا الأسبوع أنّه يسبق حكومته بخطوات عديدة. لقد سئم الناس من التردّد، ومن الجُبن، ومن التواطؤ. لم يعد بإمكان الحكومة أن تختبئ وراء الكلمات. وإذا فشلت في التحرك الآن، فسيسجَّل التاريخ أنّها كانت شريكاً في هذه الإبادة.”
وعليه، فإنّ الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا يطالب الحكومة الأسترالية بما يلي على وجه السرعة:
فرض عقوبات شاملة على دولة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي في جميع القطاعات: الاقتصادية والعسكرية والرياضية والثقافية والأكاديمية.
استدعاء السفير الأسترالي من تل أبيب وطرد السفير الإسرائيلي من كانبيرا.
انسحاب أستراليا من أي جزء في سلاسل التوريد العالمية التي تزوّد إسرائيل بالأسلحة أو قطع الغيار أو الدعم اللوجستي المستخدم في هذه الإبادة.
إعلان الدعم العلني للجهود الدولية الرامية إلى محاسبة المسؤولين الإسرائيليين عن جرائم الحرب والجرائم ضد الإنسانية.
الاعتراف الفوري وغير المشروط بدولة فلسطين.
هذه المطالب تمثّل الحدّ الأدنى من التزامات أي حكومة تدّعي احترام القانون الدولي وحقوق الإنسان وسيادة القانون. وهي أيضاً التعبير الصادق عن إرادة الشعب الأسترالي، كما أثبتت ذلك المسيرات الجماهيرية في نهاية هذا الأسبوع.
ويتقدّم الاتحاد بجزيل الشكر والامتنان إلى كل فرد وأسرة ومجموعة مجتمعية وحليف شارك في هذه المسيرات بشجاعةٍ واقتناع. أنتم تمثّلون الضمير الحيّ لهذه الأمة.
Australia Cannot Stay Silent. It’s Time for Action on Gaza

This weekend, more than 250,000 people took to the streets across Australia, in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, and beyond, in one of the largest coordinated protests in our nation’s history. From every background, age group, and walk of life, Australians gathered to demand justice for the people of Gaza and an end to the genocide unfolding before our eyes.
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) stands in full solidarity with this mass mobilisation and issues its strongest call yet to the Australian Government: the time for statements and symbolism is over. The time for action is now.
What we are witnessing in Gaza is arguably the greatest atrocity since World War II — a slow, deliberate, and brutal genocide. Likely well over 100,000 killed, most of them women and children. Entire neighbourhoods turned to rubble. Famine and forced displacement used as weapons of war. And still, our government refuses to act with the moral clarity and political courage this moment demands.
“This weekend, the Australian people showed that they are far ahead of their government. They have had enough of equivocation, enough of cowardice, enough of complicity,” said AFIC President Dr Rateb Jneid. “The government cannot hide behind words any longer. If it fails to act now, it will be remembered as an enabler of this genocide.”
AFIC calls on the Australian Government to immediately:
• Impose full sanctions on the State of Israel across all sectors: economic, military, sporting, cultural, and academic
• Recall the Australian ambassador from Tel Aviv and expel the Israeli ambassador from Canberra
• Withdraw Australia from any part of the global supply chain that provides weapons, parts, or logistical support used in this genocide
• Publicly support international efforts to hold Israeli officials accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity
• Immediately and unconditionally recognise the State of Palestine
These are the minimum expectations of a government that claims to uphold international law, human rights, and the rule of law. They are also the will of the people as this weekend’s marches made undeniably clear.
