يعرب المجلس العربي أستراليا عن حزنه العميق إزاء حادث إطلاق النار الجماعي الذي استهدف تجمعًا للجالية اليهودية احتفالًا بعيد حانوكا في بوندي أمس.

نتقدم بأحر التعازي وأصدق المواساة للضحايا وعائلاتهم وأحبائهم، وللمصابين الذين يكافحون من أجل البقاء، ولكل من شهد هذا الحدث المؤلم. كما نتقدم بخالص التعازي إلى المجتمع الأسترالي بأسره، إذ أثرت هذه المأساة فينا جميعًا. ونشيد بجهود فرق الإنقاذ والعاملين في المجال الصحي وأفراد المجتمع الذين تصرفوا بمهنية وحرص في أعقاب الحادث.

إن أي عمل عنف يستهدف الأفراد بسبب هويتهم أو معتقداتهم أو طريقة تجمعهم في المجتمع يُسبب ضررًا بالغًا وخوفًا عميقًا، وتتجاوز آثاره الضحايا المباشرين.

يؤكد المجلس العربي أستراليا التزامه الراسخ بقيم الاحترام والتعاطف والكرامة. نؤمن بمجتمعات مبنية على الشمولية والمسؤولية المشتركة، حيث يستحق كل فرد الأمان وحرية العيش دون خوف. ندين الكراهية ونرفض العنف بكافة أشكاله.

في هذه الظروف العصيبة والمؤلمة، نحث على التحلي بالمسؤولية في الحوار العام، بما في ذلك تجنب الشائعات والتكهنات، ودعم التحقيق الجاري الذي تجريه الشرطة. من الضروري احترام تجارب من كانوا في موقع الحادث، وإتاحة المجال للمعلومات الدقيقة والتعافي.

لقد فُقدت أرواح، والعائلات والمجتمعات تعيش حالة من الحزن. يظل المجلس العربي في أستراليا ملتزمًا بتعزيز التماسك الاجتماعي والتفاهم والتضامن. قلوبنا مع جميع المتضررين من هذه المأساة، ونشجع الجميع على الاطمئنان على الأصدقاء والعائلة وأفراد المجتمع الذين ربما تأثروا، ومواصلة العمل معًا للحفاظ على المبادئ التي تجمعنا.

Arab Council Australia expresses shock and profound sorrow following the mass shooting at a Jewish community gathering celebrating Chanukah at Bondi yesterday.

We extend our deepest condolences and solidarity to the victims, their families and loved ones, to those who were injured and are fighting for their lives, and to all who witnessed this traumatic event. We also extend our condolences to the wider Australian community, as this tragedy has affected us all. We acknowledge the first responders, health workers and members of the public who acted with professionalism and care in the aftermath.

Any act of violence that targets people because of who they are, their faith, or how they gather in the community causes profound harm and fear, with impacts that extend beyond the immediate victims.

Arab Council Australia stands firmly for the values of respect, compassion and dignity. We believe in communities built on inclusion and shared responsibility, where every person deserves safety and the freedom to live without fear. We condemn hatred and reject violence in all forms.

During this deeply painful and challenging time, we urge responsibility in public conversation, including moving away from rumours and speculation, and supporting the ongoing police investigation. Respecting the experiences of those who were at the scene and allowing space for accurate information and recovery is essential.

Lives have been lost, and families and communities are grieving.
