يعرب الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا برئاسة الدكتور راتب جنيد، عن بالغ صدمته واستنكاره إزاء التقارير الأخيرة التي توثّق فظائع جديدة ارتُكبت في قطاع غزة، بما في ذلك الهجوم المروّع الذي استهدف حفل زفاف فلسطيني، حيث تحوّلت لحظة الفرح إلى مأساة دامية عقب استهداف المدنيين من قبل القوات الإسرائيلية، في مشهدٍ كان من المفترض أن يجسّد الحياة والحب والصمود في وجه الدمار.
ولا يُعدّ هذا الحادث واقعةً معزولة، بل يأتي في سياق حملة عنفٍ مستمرّة ومنهجية تتواصل حتى في الوقت الذي تُستأنف فيه المحادثات الدبلوماسية خلف الأبواب المغلقة. ورغم أنّ النقاشات الجارية حول وقف إطلاق النار، بمشاركة الولايات المتحدة وقطر وتركيا ومصر، قد توحي ببارقة أملٍ خافتة، فإنّها لا يمكن، ولا ينبغي، أن تحجب الحقيقة الجوهرية المتمثّلة في أنّ الإبادة الجماعية ما زالت مستمرة دون توقّف.
وقال الدكتور راتب جنيد، رئيس الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا:
«لا يوجد أيّ مبرّر لقصف حفل زفاف، ولا سياق يمكن أن يبرّر استهداف المدنيين وهم يحتفلون بلحظة وحدة وفرح في خضمّ الدمار. هذه هي الحقيقة العارية لما يعانيه الفلسطينيون، فيما يختار العالم أن يُدير ظهره».
ويُعرب الاتحاد عن قلقه العميق إزاء تنامي حالة الصمت من قِبل القادة السياسيين والمؤسسات الرسمية، بما في ذلك داخل أستراليا. إنّ هذا الصمت يبعث برسالة خطيرة مفادها أنّ أرواح الفلسطينيين قابلة للتجاهل، وأنّ معاناتهم غير مرئية، وأنّ العدالة يمكن تأجيلها إلى أجلٍ غير مسمّى.
غير أنّ هذا العنف ليس بعيداً أو معزولاً عن واقعنا. فآثاره تُلمَس هنا في الداخل. إنّ المجتمع المسلم في أستراليا، ومعه كل أصحاب الضمائر الحيّة، يعيش حالة من الصدمة العميقة. فالجراح النفسية حقيقية، والحزن بالغ، والأثر النفسي لمشاهدة الأقارب يُقتلون، والمنازل الموروثة تُدمَّر، والهوية الثقافية تُستهدف دون مساءلة، لا يمكن التقليل من شأنه.
إنّ تجاهل هذه الحقيقة لا يُعدّ خطأً أخلاقياً فحسب، بل يشكّل خطراً اجتماعياً حقيقياً. فعندما يُهمَّش الحزن، وتُطبَّع المظالم، ويُقابل الألم بالصمت، فإنّ تبعات ذلك تتجاوز حدود منطقة النزاع وتمتدّ إلى المجتمعات كافة.
وأضاف الدكتور جنيد:
«يُطلب منّا أن نمضي قُدُماً بينما تُظهر شاشاتنا أطفالاً يُنتشَلون من تحت الأنقاض، وعائلاتٍ تُباد بالكامل، وحفل زفاف يتحوّل إلى مجزرة. هذا أمر لا يمكن لمجتمعاتنا أن تستوعبه، ولا ينبغي لها أن تصمت حياله».
ويُجدّد الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا دعوته إلى الحكومة الأسترالية لكسر صمتها واعتماد موقفٍ مبدئيّ واضح. ويشمل ذلك الإدانة العلنية للفظائع المستمرة، وفرض عقوبات على المسؤولين عنها، وسحب أيّ دعمٍ عن الأنظمة أو الآليات التي تُسهِم في تمكين هذا العنف.
فلا يمكن الحديث عن مسارٍ ذي مصداقية نحو السلام في ظلّ استمرار القتل، ولا يمكن لأيّ وقفٍ لإطلاق النار أن يصمد من دون عدالة، ولا يمكن لأيّ مجتمعٍ أخلاقي أن يُشيح بصره بينما تتحوّل حفلات الزفاف إلى جنائز، ويُدفع الأطفال إلى مصافّ الشهداء.
AFIC: The Genocide in Gaza Continues — The World Must Not Look Away
The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) is appalled by the latest reports of atrocities committed in Gaza, including the horrific attack on a Palestinian wedding celebration, where joy turned to horror as Israeli forces struck civilians during what should have been a moment of life, love and resilience.
This is a part of a sustained and systematic campaign of violence that continues even as diplomatic talks resume behind closed doors. While ceasefire discussions involving the United States, Qatar, Türkiye and Egypt offer a faint glimmer of hope, they cannot, and must not, obscure the fact that the genocide continues unabated.
“There can be no justification for bombing a wedding. No context that excuses targeting civilians as they celebrate a moment of unity and happiness in the midst of devastation,” said Dr Rateb Jneid, President of AFIC. “This is the raw reality of what Palestinians are enduring and the world is turning away.”
AFIC is deeply concerned by the growing silence from political leaders and institutions, including here in Australia. This silence sends a clear message: that Palestinian lives are disposable, that their grief is invisible and that justice can be indefinitely deferred.
But the violence is not remote. It is being felt here at home. The Australian Muslim community and indeed all people of conscience, are reeling. The trauma is real. The grief is deep. And the psychological toll of watching loved ones, ancestral homes and cultural identity destroyed with impunity cannot be overstated.
To ignore this reality is not only morally wrong, it is socially dangerous. When grief is dismissed, when injustice is normalised and when suffering is met with silence, the consequences are felt far beyond the borders of the conflict zone.
“We are told to move on while our screens show children pulled from rubble, families wiped out and a wedding celebration turned into a massacre,” Dr Jneid added. “This is not something our communities can, or should, simply absorb in silence.”
AFIC once again calls on the Australian Government to break its silence and take a principled stance. That means publicly condemning the ongoing atrocities, imposing sanctions on those responsible and withdrawing support from any systems enabling this violence.
There can be no credible path to peace while the killing continues. No ceasefire can hold without justice. And no moral society can look away while weddings become funerals and children become martyrs.
