يرحب الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا بالإعلانات الصادرة عن كلٍّ من فرنسا وكندا بشأن عزمهما الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين خلال الاجتماع القادم للأمم المتحدة. وتمثل هذه الخطوة تطورًا مهمًّا في مسار العدالة والسلام والمساءلة الدولية.
ومع تزايد عدد الدول التي تصطفّ إلى جانب مبادئ القانون الدولي وحقوق الإنسان، فإن أستراليا تواجه خطر الوقوف في الجانب الخاطئ من التاريخ. لقد حان الوقت لحكومتنا أن تتخذ موقفًا حاسمًا وتعلن اعترافها بدولة فلسطين، ليس كمجرد بادرة رمزية، بل كتأكيد ضروري ومتأخر على حق الشعب الفلسطيني في تقرير مصيره.
وفي هذا السياق، صرّح الدكتور راتب جنيد، رئيس الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا، قائلاً:
“لقد أظهرت فرنسا وكندا قيادة واضحة وبُعدًا أخلاقيًّا في موقفيهما. ولا يجوز لأستراليا أن تظل صامتة أو متواطئة بينما يتحرك العالم نحو الحق. إنّ الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين خطوة طال انتظارها نحو العدالة. وإن تقاعست أستراليا عن اتخاذ هذا الموقف الآن، فإنها تخاطر بأن تصبح من بين الدول القليلة المتبقية التي ترفض الاعتراف بحق الفلسطينيين في دولتهم.”
وأضاف الدكتور جنيد:
“إنّ الاعتراف وحده لا يكفي. على أستراليا أن تتخذ خطوات ملموسة للضغط على إسرائيل من أجل إنهاء الإبادة الجماعية الجارية في غزة. ويشمل ذلك فرض عقوبات محددة، ووقف التعاون العسكري، ودعم التحقيقات الدولية في جرائم الحرب. لم تعد الكلمات كافية.”
ويُجدّد الاتحاد الفيدرالي للمجالس الإسلامية في أستراليا دعوته إلى وقفٍ فوري لإطلاق النار، وتأمين وصول المساعدات الإنسانية بشكل كامل، وتحقيق العدالة والمساءلة عن الجرائم المرتكبة بحق المدنيين. فالعالم يراقب، وكذلك يفعل الشعب الأسترالي – مسلمون وغير مسلمون – الذين يتوقعون من حكومتهم أن تلتزم بمبادئ العدالة والكرامة والقانون الدولي.
AFIC Calls on Australia to Recognise the State of Palestine and Take Meaningful Action to End the Genocide in Gaza

The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) welcomes the announcements by France and Canada confirming their intention to recognise the State of Palestine at the upcoming United Nations meeting. These developments represent a significant step forward for justice, peace, and international accountability.
As more nations align themselves with the principles of international law and human rights, Australia risks being left on the wrong side of history. It is time for our government to act decisively and recognise the State of Palestine, not merely as a symbolic gesture, but as a necessary and overdue affirmation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
AFIC President Dr Rateb Jneid stated:
“France and Canada have shown leadership and moral clarity. Australia must not remain silent or complicit while the world takes a stand. Recognition of the Palestinian state is a long-overdue step towards justice. If Australia fails to act now, it risks isolating itself as one of the few remaining countries refusing to acknowledge the Palestinian right to statehood.”
Dr Jneid added:
“Beyond recognition, Australia must take concrete steps to pressure Israel to end the ongoing genocide in Gaza. This includes implementing targeted sanctions, ceasing military cooperation, and supporting international investigations into war crimes. Words are no longer enough.”
AFIC reiterates its call for an immediate ceasefire, full humanitarian access, and accountability for the atrocities committed against civilians. The world is watching. So too are Australians, Muslim and non-Muslim, who expect their government to uphold the principles of justice, dignity, and international law.
